Man in custody after police tactical officers called to Burlington highrise apartment

Halton Regional Police say a man is in custody after officers were called for a report of a man who was barricaded in an apartment building Thursday afternoon near Brant and Fairview streets in Burlington.

There was a heavy police presence, including the force’s tactical unit, on Ghent Avenue and police has asked the public to stay out of the area as officers dealt with the situation.

The man was reportedly holed up in a unit on the 17th floor of the highrise.

Police have not announced if any charges will be laid.
