Walk for Arthritis

The Walk for Arthritis is a one day community-based event happening on June 2nd that raises much needed funds for the more than 6 million Canadians affected by arthritis. These numbers are only going to increase: by 2040, 1 in 4 Canadians will have arthritis. As the prevalence of arthritis increases, so does the demand for investment into cutting-edge research, proactive advocacy and innovative solutions that will deliver better health outcomes for people affected by arthritis.

The Walk for Arthritis is in its tenth year, having raised over $11 million since its inception. The stretch goal for 2019 is to raise $1.5 million and register 7,000 participants, which will allow the Arthritis Society to fund even more research and provide innovative solutions to those living with this devastating disease.

The Walk for Arthritis is Canada’s largest single arthritis fundraiser. Many people don’t realize how serious it is, but arthritis is the nation’s largest chronic health condition affecting quality of life for more than 6 million people (1 in 5 adults) and 24K children.

Don’t miss out on this year’s Walk for Arthritis!

McMaster University – Sunday June 2 will see thousands of people from across Canada put their lives –and bodies –in motion to help fund a cure for arthritis.

The Walk for Arthritis is in its tenth year, and has raised over $11 million to support cutting-edge arthritis research and programs. The Walk for Arthritis brings families, friends and organizations together in communities across the country to elevate public awareness of the challenges of living with this devastating disease and create a network of understanding and support.

I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis when I was 24. This diagnosis was a challenge that truly changed my life. I was away at school without my support systems. It was not easy, but I am very proud of myself for persevering through the pain. I am determined to continue overcoming the boundaries of living with RA and act as a leader /advocate in my community. My disability doesn’t define me.
