The Threshold School of Building, a local charity working with marginalized youth, is pleased to announce the fourth “Bayfront Builders’ Challenge” on Saturday, June 9TH 2018. This exciting fundraising event is free to the public and will profile teams representing the construction and trades industry, as well as those from other local organizations and non-profit agencies.
All teams will have approximately 4 hours to design and construct one or two pieces of patio furniture, using materials provided by Threshold School. Once completed, each team’s finished product will be judged on overall design, workmanship and proper finishing techniques.
“We are excited to hold the Bayfront Builder’s Challenge for the 5th year. It’s a great way to celebrate the Threshold School of Building and the tremendous career opportunities for Hamilton youth in the trades. It’s also a great way for Hamilton organizations and builders to come out and compete in design and construction,” said Board Chair Jeff Wingard. “We feel like it’s an excellent example of how we can bring together the challenges of good building with strategies to support youth in getting great jobs.”
The Bayfront Builders’ Challenge will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018, adjacent to the Williams Fresh Café located at 47 Discovery Drive in Hamilton from 10am – 2pm.
Food, refreshments and a children’s activity table will be available. Darrin Laidman from Fresh Radio FM 95.3 will be the event’s emcee.
