Christmas in Gore Park Returns for 2023

The Christmas Tree of Hope Lighting returns to Gore Park for 2023!

We are quickly approaching the end of the year and now that the weather has become colder, our minds are instinctively turning toward our favourite holiday traditions. One of downtown Hamilton’s most recognizable holiday events has become the annual Christmas Tree of Hope lighting, and we are excited to welcome everyone back to Gore Park for 2023! Presented by the Downtown Hamilton BIA in partnership with Corus Entertainment and the City of Hamilton, this event will occur on Friday, December 1st from 5 to 7 p.m.

Attendees can grab a delicious treat before heading over to visit Santa and two princesses for a meet and greet. There will be aerialists roaming the park, and you can enjoy the sweet tunes from the Salvation Army Mountain Citadel Band while taking a ride on the exhilarating Ferris Wheel. In addition to all of these activities, Gore Park will be completely decorated for the holidays, creating a winter wonderland that every member of the family is sure to enjoy!

The annual Children’s Fund Christmas Tree of Hope was founded in 1976 to bring hope to children and families struggling through the holiday season and has been continuing their valuable work ever since. For those who are interested in donating to the 900 CHML/Y108/Energy 95.3 Children’s Fund, there are plenty of easy and accessible ways to do so. You can text DONATE to 30333 to make a $10 or $20 contribution, or you can donate by calling 905-521-2310. You can donate in person at the CHML Studio (875 Main Street West) or online at via PayPal or Additionally, donations of new and unwrapped toys can be dropped off at the Downtown Hamilton BIA office (20 Hughson Street South, Suite 104) during office hours (Mon-Fri 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.) from November 15th to December 15th.

The excitement will continue past the 1st, as the Ferris Wheel will stay in Gore Park until December 10th, running from 12 pm to 8 pm daily. It is completely free to ride, and there is a height restriction of 48” (4 feet). No single riders are permitted, and loading is directed by the device operator to maintain a “balanced load” for proper operational function of the ride cycle.

We extend our deepest thanks to our partners Corus Entertainment and the City of Hamilton for making this event possible, and we cannot wait to welcome everyone to Gore Park on December 1st!
